Netherlands: Toll collection started on the new A24

On December 7th, the new A24 motorway and tunnel, the Blankenburg connection, opened. After more than six years of construction, road traffic can now use the new north-south connection west of Rotterdam.

All vehicles are liable to pay toll on the A24, and the vehicles are identified with ANPR. The road users can either sign a contract with one of the service providers, or they can pay directly to the toll charger through a webportal. Three service providers are currently up and running for the A24 Blankenburg toll domain: Flitsmeister, MOVE-IZI and 24toll. Some of them also use work with business partners such as MSTS Tolls.

Already after the first days of operations, almost 50% of the passages are paid in the convenient way through contracts with service providers. Over 300.000 contracts are closed so far.
