The EETS service is regulated in European legislation. The so called EETS Directive 2019/520/EU was adopted on 24.03.2019
The EETS Directive refers to additional regulations which were published on 28.11.2019 as the Delegated Regulation 2020/203/EU and the Implementing Regulation 2020/204/EU.
The Member States had a deadline for transposing the Directive into their national legislation within 24 months, i.e. until 24.03.2021. This has been reflected in updated tolling laws and regulations in the Member States. Although some Member States are delayed with the transposition into national legislation, the Directive has helped to speed up the EETS implementation and extend the EETS offering in Europe.
