EU Court fines Bulgaria for delayed EETS Directive Implementation

On 30 April 2026, the Court of Justice of the European Union delivered its judgment on Case C-479/23 Commission v Bulgaria, concerning the failure to transpose the EETS Directive (EU) 2019/520 on the interoperability of electronic road toll systems. The case follows from the infringement procedure which was initiated against Bulgaria.

Lithuania prepares for e-toll: EETS Domain Statement open for Public Consultation until May 1

Starting on 1st of January 2027, Lithuania will introduce a nationalwide electronic road tolling system (e-toll). The project is being implemented by Via Lietuva in cooperation with Austrian technology provider Kapsch TrafficCom, which was selected through an international open tender.
